To ensure tanks are just accessed by authorized employees, the tanks must be locked in a safe enclosure which is designed to be protected from vehicle impact. Concrete bumpers or other retaining systems are recommended. The fueling station should have an accessible fire extinguisher. Just individuals trained to utilize the fueling station should be allowed to do so. Personnel also should be trained to utilize the fire extinguisher.

Operator Training
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration states that anyone using a forklift should undergo a training course consisting of both in-class and practical, hands-on training. Trainees will be tested to make sure that they understand the safety problems associated in using a lift truck.
